(ZDNet News) The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has accused VeriSign of breaching its contract because it failed to correct inaccurate customer information in a timely fashion. Conseqently, ICANN threatened to pull VeriSign's contract to sell Web addresses unless the domain name company corrects the problems within 15 days.

ICANN cited 17 specific violations- concerning personal contact information in Verisign's Whois database- over the past 18 months that have yet to be corrected. The violations include failing to correct inaccurate data provided by customers, such as the information for Dundjerski.com, whose administrative contact was, "OOO Blank St., No City, XX 0000" with a phone number of "123-123-1234."
