Longest Sentence for Internet Auction Fraud Handed Down

Criminal Law A man who defrauded Internet auction shoppers out of more than $100,000, was sentenced to twelve years in prison. According to Department of Justice officials, this is the longest sentence to date for Internet auction fraud. Thomas Houser "offered" electronics and other goods on eBay and Yahoo, defrauding 268 shoppers. In addition to the sentence, authorities have seized $50,000 and a $6,000 Nissan automobile from Houser to repay the defrauded shoppers. Check out the Washington Post for a full story.
