New Chinese Web Content Rules Effective August 1
posted by justfred on Monday July 15, @01:16PM
from the do-not-publish-or-perish dept.
Censorship Described as "temporary," new Chinese Web content regulations will go into effect on August 1. According to the rules, posted on Sina.com, Internet publishers caught disobeying long-standing content guidelines will have to pay new fines or risk closure. However, some Chinese Internet lawyers have said the new rules add little to existing regulations and are probably related to the recent rise of cyber-cafe crackdowns in China. Check out Reuters for the full story.
