Don't you have to pay for domain registration and, if so, doesn't credit card (or any other payment type) information then accurately identify the registering party? Even if the registering party is outside of the US, they have to be identified by a verifiable financial institution.

Good point.
However, the people that may need to fnd out who and where I am may not have access to CC details - at least I hope not. If it's terrorism it could be retrieved, but if it's hate incitement it's not that straightforward.
The problem compounds when we consider other countries. Even if we could cover US sites for US people - despite the Madrid Protocol [web-law.org], registrations in other countries (China being the current escapee favorite) are loose and easy to circumvent.The Baron
