Open Source Definition-father Mr Bruce Perens does not consider SCO or Microsoft the big threat against the Linux movement. Mr Perens is more afraid of his friends at IBM, Red Hat and Hewlett-Packard. Why? Software patents. Mr Perens wants a written confirmation stating that the companies will not file suit against open code developers as the software patentability is spreading across the globe.
