MIT and Boston College Quash RIAA Subpoenas

Copyright Boston Globe & /.: Boston College and MIT have moved yesterday to quash subpoenas issued by the RIAA to discover the identities of fileshares on their networks. Both colleges say that they support the rights of copyright holders and would comply with any subpoena that addressed their concerns about the proper notification of students and was filed ''properly'' in US District Court in Massachusetts, not in Washington D.C.

    Juristiction? (Score:1)

Would anyone like to comment on the Juristiction issue here. Obviously the RIAA is of the opinion (as well as the DC court - obviously since they issued the subpoena) that the DC court has juristicion in Mass. and that they do not need to go through a Mass. court.

The alleged crime did take place in the State of Mass., did it not?

    Is there a problem here?
