Bulk Mail Coalition formed by DoubleClick and Experian

News In an effort to elevate their bulk mailings above spam, online advertising company DoubleClick and credit reporting agency Experian have formed the Email Service Provider Coalition. The initiative the coalition announced involves creating a registry similar to credit reporting. E-mail headers would have information on the sender and its credibility rating so that ISPs could choose whether to delete the message or divert it to an infrequently checked junk folder (similar to a bank evaluating risk in loan applications). Under those systems, senders post a bond they forfeit if they get too many complaints. Such a registry is similar to offerings from IronPort Systems and others for elevating certain bulk mailings.
