Siva on *Real* Copyright
posted by scubacuda on Tuesday March 18, @12:53AM
from the shout-out-to-Mikael dept.
Copyright Siva Vaidhyanathan again hits the nail on the head in his blog:
"Real copyright -- both public faith in the system and the democratic safeguards embodied in it -- is in danger. The pirates and hackers are NOT the problem."
In response to Mikael Pawlo's essay on why we should defend *real* copyright, Siva writes,
"Real copyright is imperfect, embodies rights for copyright holders and the public, and reflects human concerns...Jack Valenti et al gave up on copyright back in the mid-1990s. Those of us who still believe in Copyright must speak up strongly in favor of it."
