SCO Threatens Legal Action Against Linux Users

from the dept.
Open Source SCO Group (formerly, Caldera International) has made news recently with threats to chase after Linux users for violation of SCO's intellectual property rights in certain code that was the basis for Bell Lab's development of UNIX in the 1960's and 70's. SCO has hired failed Al Gore layer David Boise and, while claiming that no particular user has been targeted, Chris Sontag, SCO senior vice president for operating systems, states that "Anybody that does not have intellectual property issues related to SCO can sleep well at night, but for anyone violating our IP we are going to be more aggressive enforcing our rights than we have in the past."
