Libraries Bend to the Feds

News Wired reports the results of a survey given to 906 libraries: the year following the 9-11 WTC attacks, out of the 545 libraries visited by federal and local law enforcement agents, roughly half the librarians voluntarily forfeited patrons' records without a subpoena or court order. Quite suprising, considering the American Library Association's support of intellectual freedom and criticism of Homeland Security, Patriot Act, etc.
