321 Studios asked for declaratory judgment against the major hollywood studios to protect its suite of DVD copying software from potential DMCA claims. Thursday seven major hollywood studios including MGM, Columbia, Universal, Time Warner, Disney, Vivendi, and the Saul Zaentz Company countersued in the same federal court asking for a permanent injunction ordering 321 to stop producing its software packages. They also asked that the company be forced to turn its profits over to the studios.
