Roblimo Miller on Geektivism

from the not-invented-here dept.
Civil Liberties Newsforge editor Robin "Roblimo" Miller gives his views on geektivism. According to Miller "our (the U.S.) system does encourage compromises and deal-making".

This could mean that Miller does not believe the Free Software Foundation to be the optimal lobby group for free software. I think Stallman would do great on Capitol hill, could he only get hold of a Mr Smith to help him out.

Further, Miller wants to fund (and found) a geektivism alliance with seed money from a big corporation. Microsoft is mentioned. Well, if you build it they will come. I am not sure about Microsoft if we are talking about free software, but Microsoft might chip in to the EFF. Maybe the current options should be investigated first. Many new organizations have been founded (and later died) just because they were Not Invented Here. Are there really no good geektivism alliances around in the U.S.? I find that very hard to believe.
