from the bring-money,-deals,-and-lawyers dept.
Embattled deal discussion site Fatwallet.com, which was served with DMCA nastygrams from several major retailers after it posted holiday sales prices prior to public release, has obtained counsel and is fighting back with a vengence. As an Ascribe Newswire (through Copyfight) story details, the Boalt Hall Law School (U of Cal. Berkeley) Samuelson Clinic has joined forces with a private practice lawyer to represent Fatwallet.
Armed with its fancy new lawyers, Fatwallet.com has demanded payment for time and effort expended in responding to the retailers' frivolous and unlawful claims under the DMCA. You see -- lawyers aren't always that bad.
