from the Britney-dances-to-Washington dept.
Copyright miladus writes " Hollywood has decided to go to the public with its fight agaisnt "illegal" downloading of files. The Washington Post reports that today is the beginning of an ad campaign featuring pop stars (Stevie Wonder & Britney Spears). The campaign will cover newspapers, TV and radio. It is supported by the RIAA, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and Broadcast Music Inc., and the American federation of Televesion & Radio Artists union. The ad campaign coincides with Congressional hearings and discussions of bills that would prohibit or introduce stringent DRM measures. "

This ad campaign ("Hi, I'm Britney Spears. I'm completely talentless and you've made me a billionaire -- and I need your help!") or the George Bush "Fool me" clips [random-abstract.com] from yesterday's news.

Perhaps our next poll question should be -- how many millions of dollars will the RIAA spend in order to save the 10 million dollars it allegedly loses from file-sharing?

    • 500 million
    • 800 million
    • 1.5 billion
    • As much as it takes before the record companies realize Hilary Rosen and the RIAA are a scam setup to drain their coffers
    God bless America.
