Court Rules Man Can Only Sue AOL in Virginia

News A Massachusetts district court has ruled that a man attempting to sue his ISP, America Online, may do so only in Virginia, since his contract with the ISP is limiting to that jurisdiction. The man, Walter Hughes of Andover, MA, had attempted to bring AOL to court in Massachusetts after the ISP released his personal information to a police officer. Forum selection clauses like the one in AOL's standard contract are common in agreements, but this case tested the efficacy of such clauses in click-wrap license such as those provided when you install AOL's client software.
