EFF Attorney: DMCA Has Produced Unintended Consequences

News Just in time for the Elcomsoft trial but too late to influence Judge Ronald Whyte's ruling earlier this week, EFF Intellectual Property Attorney Fred von Lohmann has released a white paper, "Unintended Consequences," about the DMCA's ramifications since its enactment. If the title doesn't tip you off as to the paper's stance on the issue, its executive summary will: "In practice, the anti-circumvention provisions have been used to stifle a wide array of legitimate activities, rather than stop digital piracy."
