Italian & American Authorities Work Together, Shut Down Hacker Rings
posted by justfred on Thursday August 01, @07:28PM
from the global-cyberpolice dept.
Criminal Law Italian police arrested 14 people Thursday, after receiving tips from American officials. The arrests shut down two rings of hackers who attacked Internet pages in Italy, as well as Web sites belonging to the U.S. Army and NASA. Charged with computer fraud, the alleged hackers may face up to eight years in jail if convicted.

"The managers sold security systems during the day and attacked the computers of the customers at night," Italian police said.

The hacker ring crackdown also led to the seizure of counterfeit credit cards, hundreds of illegal pay-per-view TV access cards and illegally duplicated movies.

The Nando Times reports the AP news story.
