Free Culture, FTAs and Future International Challenges

Copyright Peter Yu writes "International intellectual property issues have become increasingly important as we ponder the development of the open source, free software and free culture movements, as well as the future of WIPO. I have posted online an article about the development of the international intellectual property regime and the upcoming challenges and confrontations in the area. These developments affect us more than we expect. We are unlikely to have the DMCA and its unintended consequences had we not ratified the WIPO Internet Treaties, and we certainly will have (much) less free access to information if we follow the EU's lead on sui generis database protection. The piece is now available at http://ssrn.com/abstract=578572."
