The American Library Association is about to file an amicus brief, supporting the peer-to-peer companies in the Grokster case. As previously reported by Greplaw, the entertainment companies, including AOL Time Warner and Sony, filed court papers with the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco to re-examine the arguments against the P2P sites and to make them accountable for infringement. According to a Cnet News.com story, the American Library Association's amicus brief will claim that the Supreme Court ruled correctly in the Sony/Betamax case, hence Grokster et al should not be held accountable for copyright infringement conducted in the peer-to-peer networks.
