privacy Business Week: Mark Lovelace (aka "Simple Nomad"), senior security researcher for network protection firm BindView, unveiled a program to anonymously send data across the Internet at the Black Hat Briefings security conference: NCovert. Lovelace says the technique forges the source of the IP address to look like the intended recipient of the information, while the destination IP addresses points to another third-party server on the Internet.

Seems like Ncovert's benefits would be greatly diminished by the egress filtering commonly used today. Routers often drop packets that have origin addresses that are not part of their internal network's subnet.
