miladus writes "BBC reports
that the British Phonographic Industry
(BPI) is complaining that British Telecom
(BT) 'refuses' to discuss peer-to-peer issues. According to the story,
'the record industry is determined to put an end to the free trading of
music online'. BT summarizes its position by stating that 'Peer-topeer
is a technology and it isn't inherently illegal'. BT is looking for what
the reports calls 'goog quality legal alternatives' and has started
offering 'legal' music downloads via its dotmusic service (similar to the
forthcoming Apple
music service?). The fight is reminiscent of the ongoing legal
battle between the RIAA and Verizon over revealing the
identity of p2p users accused of doanloading 'illegal' files."
