eWeek is
reporting that the Bush administration will create a position of a "privacy
czar" in order to deflect some of the criticisms related to the implementation
of new National Security measures, especially expanded surveillance in Cyberspace.
'In addition to its own initiatives, the government is searching
for ways to get private enterprises to speed up on privacy protections without new legislation. Privacy experts say that likely approaches range from enforcing existing laws to using the government's purchasing power to single out products that adhere to privacy requirements.'
I wonder where this will lead us, taking into account the administration's record?"
