Davezilla Recieves Cease And Desist Threat From Godzilla.

from the and-we-notified-David-Caruso-and-he's-coming-after-you-for-that-Dave-part dept.
Trademark The IP folks over at Toho Co.,Ltd. sent a cease and desist letter to Dave Linabury of davezilla.com. Toho represents all of the gozilla trademarks, and claims that Dave's site is infringing on those marks both through the use of "zilla" and "imagery associated with godzilla" which is "likely to cause the users of [the site] to believe that the "DAVEZILLA.COM" website is either associated with, authorized by, or sponsored by our client, and demonstrates an attempt by [dave] to trade on the goodwill built up by [Toho]." This letter is a classic example of the strong arm tactics opposed by sites like the Berkman Center's website, Chilling Effects. Are the open source folks over at Mozilla next?
