Rep. Boucher's Keynote Address Sparks Debate at Jupiter Plug.In Music Forum

Digital Entertainment Rep. Rick Boucher's keynote address set the stage for a vigorous debate at the 7th Annual Jupiter Plug.In Music Forum , which began today in New York. Citing anti-competitive implications, the congressman criticized both the music industry's efforts to sell music online and to prevent digital piracy. Not surprisingly, the speech drew reactions from the major labels and the RIAA's Hillary Rosen, who defended the pursuits of online music ventures, such as Pressplay and MusicNet, to own both music content and distribution domains. Check out Cnet for an article on the industry reaction to Boucher's speech.
