Economist Testifies Against State's Remedy in Microsoft Case
posted by md on Thursday May 09, @11:50AM
from the economies-off-scale dept.
Antitrust Microsoft witness and economist Kenneth G. Elzinga of the University of Virginia, yesterday testified that the abstaining State's proposed remedy against Microsoft would harm consumers and stifle Microsoft's innovation. When asked whether he thought Microsoft's competitive activities had harmed consumers, he responded that was not what he was asked to determine. The question remains whether anyone not on Microsoft's payroll (Elzinga has received research funding from the company) actually believes the argument that a strong remedy against Microsoft would really harm consumers.
