iCrave TV is Born Again--But Has it Reformed?

Digital Entertainment In 1999--ages ago in Internet time--the now-defunct Canadian venture iCraveTV.com was born, providing Internet users with free access to television via computer: 17 channels, including both Canadian and US television networks. Not long afterward, the service succumbed to death by litigation, having raised the hackles of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the NFL and the NBA.

Now iCraveTV has been reborn as iCraveTV.biz. The new service promises, like the original, to "bring live entertainment to your computer in the same manner...as you would see on your home TV"--but also, significantly, boasts the ability to "territorialize" viewers.

Will the new iCraveTV escape the fate of its predecessor? Check out this Star.com article; it provides a cogent overview of the legal and technical issues with which the new service must contend.
